Over the past 5 years Alcoa has worked in carrying out trials on the feasibility of recycling pure and alloyed aluminum dross into the electrolysis
process. Recycling of the cast house furnace generated dross in smelting dross residues land fill. New processes to reduce the dross generated in
the furnaces like the robot skimmer and a new method to transfer metal to the furnaces have also been jointly developed with equipment manufacturers.
In this session all three projects will be presented and will show that they are applicable to most primary plants with valuable benefits to the cost of production and environmental impact.
